Rehabilitation methods necessary to improve the health of a seriously ill child
Rehabilitation is a healing process, a targeted treatment aimed at restoring the physical functions of the locomotor system. Depending on the type of injury or illness, several types of rehabilitation exercises are used, including positioning, exercises or other special methods. The aim of rehabilitation is not only to restore the correct function of the locomotor apparatus.
Most children who are disabled have diagnoses that require all-day care.
For children with cerebral palsy, the following rehabilitation treatments are recommended individually:
- Vojta reflex locomotion – is an activation method that revives sleeping brain muscles and weakened, unused muscles of the body.
- Bobath concept – is a neurodevelopmental therapy that helps to achieve the maximum physiological motor expression.
The basis is to achieve the normalization of muscle tension. - Therasiut method – is a therapy using a TheraSuit suit, which enables the individual activation of all muscle groups that the child uses, as well as those that the child does not use or uses incorrectly.
- Faya method – is a neuromuscular reflex therapy based on movement stereotypes, because fine motor skills can only be built from them.
- Roode´s method – is a concept that also uses the influence of the position by stimulating the vegetative nerve.
The methodology uses a varied palette of facilitation elements to stimulate surface receptors and also deals with visceroreceptors and deep postural reflexes. - Orofacial stimulation – includes a set of movements and actions, the aim of which is to stimulate the neuromotor of the face, cheeks, lips, tongue, palate, pharynx and achieve positive progress in breathing, sucking, chewing, biting, swallowing, drinking and, secondarily, in speech.
Rehabilitation treatments are necessary
The birth of a child with a serious disability and the care of him/her cause an extraordinary physical and psychological burden on his/her parents.
Parents often struggle with fear, anxiety and hopelessness associated with the uncertain development in the future. Family members are exposed to a high burden, stressful situations and confrontational feelings that they cannot process without further help.
The intensity of the therapies is sensitively adapted to each child. It is an invaluable help for disabled children who have to fight their illnesses and integrate into our society.
The successful development of a disabled child depends not only on the upbringing of the parents, but also on the help of professionals.
Rehabilitation centres offer high-quality examinations, counselling and treatment methods that are necessary for the proper development of a seriously ill child.
Parents often turn to us and ask for help so that they can ensure a full life for their disabled child.
Rehabilitation treatments, which significantly help in the proper development of a patient, are time-consuming and financially demanding for families with a disabled child.
How much does the treatment cost?
The prices of rehabilitation centres are individual.
Children who need full-day care undergo medical therapy with one parent.
Parents have expenses for accommodation, food, travel, auxiliary methods, counselling and administrative fees.
Approximate prices of rehabilitation for a child with a parent are from EUR 100 to 150 per day, depending on the difficulty of the methods.
Parents usually attend 5-7 day treatment stays. For the proper development of a child, reconditioning activities should be repeated at regular intervals. Doctors recommend undergoing rehabilitation processes at least every quarter.
Every single step that improves a child’s development means huge happiness for a parent.
Show your love to children. Give them happiness and a smile.
